Organist and Choirmaster | 719-328-1125 ext 306
Simon joined Grace and St. Stephen’s in 2018, from St. Thomas’s Episcopal Church in New Haven, Conn. To his role as director of choirs, principal organist and overseer of the long-standing Taylor Memorial Concert Series, Simon brings a wealth of experience rooted in the rich Anglican musical tradition.
He began his musical education as a chorister at Truro Cathedral in England; he was Organ Scholar at Christ’s College, Cambridge and Salisbury Cathedral and Westminster Abbey, before moving to the United States. A graduate of the Yale Institute of Sacred Music, Simon is conductor of the world-renowned Yale Schola Cantorum and an Associate of the Royal College of Organists. His passion for the organ, choral experience and sacred music makes him highly sought after as an organist, conductor and accompanist throughout the United States and Europe. He has developed and lead programs for the study of organ and choral conducting at the university level and been a guest presenter at the Institute of Sacred Music on subjects including psalmody and continuo playing.
Simon and wife Mira share their home with three cats and a green-cheeked parakeet. When not rehearsing, playing or teaching, they enjoy exploring the decidedly different landscapes and culture of Colorado Springs.
